LOUIS, MISSOURI, AND CHICAGO, ILLINOIS AMTRAK OFFICIALS LEASED TWO TURBOLINERS FROM THE FRENCH AND PUT THEM IN SERVICE ON THE ST. LOUIS-CHICAGO RUN IN THE FALL OF 1973. AFTER EIGHT MONTHS OF TRIAL, THE CORPORATION BOUGHT THEM AND ORDERED 11 MORE. IT IS PART OF AMTRAK'S EFFORT TO REPLACE OLD EQUIPMENT INHERITED FROM THE NATION'S RAILROADS

Charles O'Rear (born 26 November 1941, Miss) is an American photographer. His image Bliss was used as the default desktop wallpaper of Microsoft's Windows XP operating system. O'Rear started his career with the daily newspapers Emporia Gazette, The Kansas City Star, and Los Angeles Times; worked for National Geographic magazine; and was part of the Environmental Protection Agency's DOCUMERICA project.
